Chinese Language and Culture Celebration

Who:              Duval County Public Schools students and families, and the Jacksonville Chinese American Association.
 
What:             More than 100 Duval County students will recite literature, conversational dialogue and present music and art demonstrations at the first Chinese Language and Culture Celebration. 
 
The public is invited to this free event where they can enjoy authentic Chinese food while learning about the culture through performance. 
 
Duval County Public Schools currently offers a Chinese Language Program at five schools, with an additional school providing Chinese instruction during their after school Team-Up program.



Lane Closures (Nov. 29-Dec. 5)

I-10/I-95 interchange reconstruction project
I-95 northbound to I-10 westbound WILL BE TOTALLY CLOSED nightly from Monday, December 1 through Friday, December 5 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Detour signs will be posted. Lane closings may occur at various locations within the project limits on I-10 and I-95 and on the side streets between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. The anticipated completion time for this project is early 2011.

Branan Field Chaffee Road (S.R. 23) extension between I-10 and 103rd Street
No lane closings are schedule for next week. The project should be completed in the fall of 2009.

Lane Closures (Nov. 22-29)

There are no scheduled lane closings or detours on state roadways over the extended Thanksgiving holiday from Wednesday night through Sunday night.

I-95 northbound to I-10 westbound WILL BE TOTALLY CLOSED nightly from Monday, December 1 through Friday, December 5 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Detour signs will be posted. Stockton Street at I-10 WILL BE TOTALLY CLOSED from 7 p.m. on Friday, November 21 until 5 a.m. on Monday, November 24 for demolishing an overpass. Detour signs will be posted. Lane closings may occur at various locations within the project limits on I-10 and I-95 and on the side streets between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. The estimated completion time for this project is early 2011.

I-95 northbound to I-10 westbound WILL BE TOTALLY CLOSED nightly on Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Detour signs will be posted. I-10 southbound to I-10 westbound WILL BE TOTALLY CLOSED on Saturday, November 15 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Detour signs will be posted.

I-95 northbound to I-10 westbound WILL BE TOTALLY CLOSED on the nights of Monday, November 3 and Tuesday, November 4 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Detour signs will be posted. I-95 southbound to I-95 southbound WILL BE TOTALLY CLOSED on the night of Thursday, November 6 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Detour signs will be posted. I-10 eastbound to I-95 northbound WILL BE TOTALLY CLOSED on Wednesday, November 5 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Detour signs will be posted.I-95 southbound to I-10 westbound WILL BE TOTALLY CLOSED on Friday, November 7 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Detour signs will be posted.  Lane closings may occur at various locations within the project limits on I-10 and I-95 and on the side streets between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. The estimated completion time for this project is early 2011.



Max's Corner: Public Opinion

The pastor entered his donkey in a race and it won.
 
The pastor was so pleased with the donkey that he entered it in the
race again, and it won again.
 
The local paper read: PASTOR'S ASS OUT FRONT.
 
The Bishop was so upset with this kind of publicity that he ordered the pastor not to enter the donkey in another race.
 
The next day, the local paper headline read: BISHOP SCRATCHES PASTOR'S ASS.
 
This was too much for the bishop, so he ordered the pastor to get rid of the donkey.
 
The pastor decided to give it to a nun in a nearby convent.  The local paper, hearing of the news, posted the following headline the next day:
